Afrimoney Sierra Leone and BnB ( a remittance company) have launched overseas’ service apps for customers of both companies.
Customers will now be able to send money to their loved ones and others in other countries in the world.
Afrimoney says users can now dial up * 161* 1# to send money with ease within 10 countries in which they are operating their mobile money business.
“Afrimoney users can dial #161# to access BnB’s international remittance platform.
In just a few easy steps, they can send money to family and friends abroad – – quickly and reliably,” BnB’s pressnote stated.
BnB is a leading fintech platform which is committed to transforming financial services in Sierra Leone and across Africa.
BnB’s Country Head, Mamadou Billy Kolade, while speaking at the event organized on Friday 23rd May, 2025 at Murray Town, Freetown, said: “We got MOUs. And with Africell’s believing in our proposals, they gave us all ears needed and they endorsed and went along with that [ the proposals] .”
“Also it would not have been possible for us to be where we are today without the support and guidance of the central bank; the Bank of Sierra Leone team gave us guidance and support towards reaching where we are today,” says Mr Kolade.
BnB’s Country Head says they are operating their business in Canada, Europe, Liberia, Guinea, Senegal, US, and in several countries in Central Africa.
“This is where all the magic ends,” he spoke out while launching BnB’s global send money app, in partnership with Afrimoney-Sierra Leone.
“BnB is a household name; we made remittances come at your doorstep,” he said.
Mr Kolade added that: “We also wish to align with many partners ( in fintech business) in Sierra Leone.”
He said both customers of BnB and Africell will be able to send money wherever they are especially in the 14 countries where they have BnB’s outlets.
“This is opening doors for business to thrive,” says a senior staff at BnB.
Afrimoney CEO, Martinson Obeng-Agyei, says all about business in the world today is about maintaining trust, coordination and cooperation between partners.
“I want to say kudos to BnB for this partnership. This has been long coming. It is about coordination and cooperation which is important in business today.”
Mr Obeng-Agyei encouraged all Africell’s customers and potential mobile subscribers to avail themselves with the opportunity of sending money overseas to others, doing it with ease.
“You need not to transport you money by road or send somebody like in those days.”
“These services are here to help us to make our lives easy and to facilitate trade,” he said.
“Today, we have put another power into your hands,” he told Africell’s customers who may want to send money within Africa, Europe and Central Africa through Africell’s and BnB’s mobile money app.
And so he encouraged customers to have access to BnB and Afrimoney app, and while having it, he said, “you just need to click option 6 which reads, “Overseas Money”.
“This is another more reason why you must join up Afrimoney,” says Mr Obeng-Agyei.
