Due to the sisterhood and bilateral relationship between the two countries, the Deputy Leader of the opposition All People’s Congress (APC) in Parliament, Hon Daniel Brima Koroma has informed the world that “attack on India is an attack on Sierra Leone.”
According to him, the Sierra Leone Parliament has enacted progressive laws that are totally against terrorist act, stating that “we have passed into law Terrorism Act. We are totally against terrorism. We have benefited a lot from India investments in Sierra Leone and our sistership is beyond borders.”
Hon Koroma made the submissions on Thursday 29th May, 2025 during a visit by the India Parliament delegation to the Sierra Leone Parliament.
According to the delegation, India has witnessed a number of terorist attacks from Pakistan in recents.
They highlighted a number of incidents that have resulted to lots of casualties, including the deaths of families and peaceful India citizens.
Buttressing the need to deescalate the habitual attacks on India state, Hon opposition leaders alluded to the fact that, Sierra Leone is far away from terror attacks and will also not tolerate any nation that tends to promote terror against its neighbors.
He stated that India and Sierra Leone are sharing common democratic practices which is also not in support of terror activities.
Citing the benefits the country has received from India, the MP stated that the sisterhood between Sierra Leone and India is so tight that the latter has offered serious and affordable and free health services to the people of Sierra Leone.
The lawmaker also assured the Indian delegation that Sierra Leone will always stand by India and will offer any support that will stop terror attacks on the Asian nation.
He also assured that the right Hon. Speaker will convey the visit to President Julius Maada Bio.
Earlier, the Speaker of Parliament, Hon Segepoh Solomon Thomas welcomed the dele in the chambers of parliament, referring to India as close neighbors in terms of peace and national development of the two countries.
The Speaker also expressed concern over the terror attacks on the people of India which he said Sierra Leone is deeply concerned over what he descriobed as terror against humanity.
Hon. Thomas said Sierra Leone is deeply troubled and frowned at the persistent wrecking havoc on the people of India describing the situation as security issue that requires utmost attention from the Security Council of the United Nations.
He therefore condemned the attacks and called for swift deescalation.
The delegation explained how they have suffered serious threats and casualties from Pakistan’s terror against the people of India.
