Whether he or his party members like it or not, the truth of the matter is, the president knows very well that he will never dare to say he is going to contest again.

In fact, there is no need to contemplate that, because it’s completely out of the way. Parrot knows it’s unconstitutional and cannot be changed overnight. Period!

Even the completion of two consecutive terms by previous and present presidents which fickle minded people also want to believe is a constitutional mandate is also not a laid-down principle that, because it’s not in this kingdom’s law books, therefore no aspiring candidate should believe that.

Of course, late President Ahmad Tejan Kabbah did two terms, former President Ernest Bai Kororma also completed his two terms and President Julius Maada Bio too done his two own terms, but their two consecutive two presidencies is not in any way a laid down policy and so therefore it would continue.

For any incumbent president to survive a second term mandate is a decision to be made by the people.

In fact, the wise bird is not at all comfortable with this two term thing for anybody wishing to become President, because if that is the case whether a President did what was expected or not, he will still want to continue in office for the second term even at the detriment of the people. You now see why Bra Parrot doesn’t even want to think about such issue?

The wisest animal can recall when President Koroma used to say ‘my last and final term as President of Sierra Leone,’ and he did just that. He never minced his words even though some of his supporters had wanted him to do so.

Like former President Koroma, President Bio has also come out clearly that he will not go in for a third term because there have been speculations that, he intends to do so when his second term ends in 2028.

His refusal, according to what the bird got is a fulfillment of the promises he made during his campaign in 2018, and that he will stand by it to the letter.

The decision by the two gentlemen to deny third term idea is a laudable one, for which the Parrot wants to extend his appreciation to them, because he cannot imagine what would have been the consequences if any of them would have accepted the idea.

The most respected animal went out to sound the views of the people on this all important topical issue, and most of them said it is no news for the president to leave when his tenure expires because there is no provision in our constitution for any president to stay beyond his second consecutive term.

In fact, they say any attempt by the current president to stay beyond his last term will only create a negative impact on the lives of the people.

The bird also contacted those who are in the good books of the president; but unlike the general masses, they expressed sadness for his exit because according to them, “it means a lot to them.”

Bro Parrot was very quick to put one and one together that these are some of the people enjoying under this system.

The bird is of the view that even though President Julius Maada Bio is no longer going to contest, but must have had someone in mind to protect him after he has left.
