It’s been a grim year for the New Direction Government of Rtd. Brigadier Julius Maada Bio, but what lessons to be learnt?
The New Direction Establishment plan of ” Feed Salone” looks like a contrived edifice that is wooing the electorates of Sierra Leone.
The New Direction Government of President Bio’s manifesto promises to the people of Sierra Leone are far from achieved, and the people must see it to be fulfilled rather than appeasing party cohorts.
Our Country, Sierra Leone, is a prime priority and must not fail. As a democratic nation, we should all embark on the drive for the development of a better Sierra Leone.
If President Bio failed us with his manifesto promises, then our traditional political parties, the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) and the All People’s Congress Party (APC ) have proved useless to our governance system. What else awaits our country?
Putting the Country above individual interest is the task awaiting President Bio and his New Direction Establishment. He has to make the electorates feel better by improving their daily livelihood as the record of the cost of living is badly alarming.
It is a mystery to see our politicians keep failing their rhetorical pledge cards. The Country is expecting much from the president, and it will be a grave mistake if he fails to deliver his manifesto pledge, which will make him become the voice of doom when his days are numbered.
As the President of the Republic, he has to show prudence in his promise and nurture the hope and Optimism that are indispensable qualities of a President. For his legacy to stand unchallenged, he has to prove to the electorates that Sierra Leone gets better with encouraging signs of the low cost of living, which will make a tangible difference to the lives of the electorates.
With his ambitious goal of ” Feed Salone”, I think President Bio will be rewiring the Country with essential food sufficiency. But the big question now is, will the epic venture be successful?
As it is now, our country, Sierra Leone, has no political Culture of compromise, as Partisan rivalry has destroyed our patriotism. Indeed our Country is still reeling in a sobering augury of where the Country might be heading.
With the end of decades of rule of the traditional APC Party, which signals the moment of a democratic Catharsis, they never gave Peace a chance and did so without any plan to absorb their consequences and make our country become a Country more Pitied than admired.
This moment in Sierra Leone reflects on an era of fractious and unstable politics built on plodding partisan Consensus that is deepening the political turbulence in Sierra Leone at a very time of the mounting global economic, Political and Security instability that is also affecting our country.
Despite the frequent unconstitutional dim-witted attempts by the Red Warriors to Pull- Down the New Direction Establishment with dodgy and Seditious means, the Bio administration has made some political mistakes and scandals that surround the Spirit of our times and reflect on the spirit of the President’s Optimistic Talk – And – Do.
Internationally, President Bio has done well in his role as a Stateman both in the Sub-region of West Africa and on the global stage. But internally he must turn his attention to his grumpy and unreconciled home audience and stay alert as 2025 is fast approaching with a dark spectre looms over our country as the emboldened Red Warriors intensify their tireless sabotage package
This insecurity period in our country’s history is triggering a scary moment of Deja vu. The New Direction Establishment needs an overarching narrative and plan to fix the country so he can make the people of Sierra Leone happy which is crucial to the project of Change.
But at the moment, President Bio’s answer to the problems of Sierra Leone does not measure up to the Current Problem confronting the Country due to the lack of ideological Purity. A Successful establishment always needs to satisfy its people, which helps define its manifesto. But with the New Direction Establishment, its only attention is the aspirational class that is being transformed, which has now met with derision from the electorates that are seeking an amorphous idea of Change.
The big question now is, Can President Bio Please everyone? As for those who are feeling the optimism of the New Direction Establishment, and how things are unfolding, the people of Sierra Leone are Sceptical about the Campaign messaging deployed by the President as it will take a long time for the people of Sierra Leone to see the difference.
The New Direction Government of President Rtd. Brigadier Julius Maada Bio has now swivelled to the most immediate problem of the people of Sierra Leone. With his romantic and nostalgic policy plan, President Bio needs to deliver visible change to his “Feed Salone” Project.
While President Bio may strive to address the needs of many Sierra Leoneans, his success will depend on effective governance, transparency, and Inclusivity. Whether or not he “Pleases everyone” is out of issue rather than working towards the greater good of Sierra Leone.
But with the current predicament, many Sierra Leoneans are frustrated due to the political underlying in the Country with the cost of living rocketing while the electorates are being promised gloom, which is nonsense as the reality of the past years is not the rhetoric of the current situation.
As we witness boring political stability, the reality is colossal with a true political elite failure. The people of Sierra Leone no longer have political trust in our politicians whose integrity is low and apathy high, which has put our faith in our governance system in short supply.
As a Talk – And – Do President, his pledges are far more than “Noise-off”. The only route to his Party Re-election is when the People of Sierra Leone feel better – Off and Calmer about the Country’s food Sufficiency and Security. If the ” Feed Salone” agenda is successful that is where many Sierra Leoneans will be in an Immiserated new self Sufficiency
But as it remains, can we put our hope that tomorrow can be better than today, or yesterday is better than today? It all remains to be seen as it thrives on the failure of the status quo, not the strength of the establishment.
The clock is now ticking against the New Direction Government. Watching it are the Red Warriors and their Vultures of austerity willing it to fail so they can feast on looting.
!! LONG LIVE THE PEOPLE OF SIERRA LEONE.
!! GOD BLESS US ALL!!
