42-years-old Tejan Kamara, a business man has made another appearance before Magistrate Augustine Brima Samura of Pademba Road court No.
He is defending himself on a count charge Domestic violence contrary to section 2 (1) of the Domestic violence Act 2007.
The particulars of offence on Sunday 20th April 2024 and 26th April 2025 at Charlotte Street UBA Bank in Freetown, the suspect economically abused Mariama Tarawalie through a domestic relationship affair.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused person he pleaded not guilty.
Inspector Aminata Korio led prosecution witness number one Mariama Tarawally, a administrator at Kid Zone Academy Wilberforce said she knew the accused as her mother extended family. She recalled on the above date something taht transferred between herself and the accused person.
She said the accused approached her for them to do business in Liberia. And they bought goods on the 1st September 2024 upon that she sent 8minutes and 22 seconds voice message proposal on the 20th October 2024.
And herself and the accused went to UBA headquarters on Charlotte Street to withdraw some money. The witness said she withdraw the sum of 49,000 which she gave to the accused and they agreed that the said money should be refunded on the 31st December 2024.
They also agreed that he would be giving her 1,500 monthly as interests.
He payed her the interest rates for the month of November and December in 2024.
The witness said she called the accused several times to remind him to refund the principal sum of 49,000 but he didn’t respond to his calls on the 3rd January 2025.
She went to the accused place at Fredrick Street but she didn’t find him there.
He then left a message to the wife of the accused to meet her at his house at 44 Edward Street and within 30 minutes the accused came to her house.
She asked him for her money he replied that ” you money don go lek breeze”.
The witness said she asked how it happened but the accused said he did not understand.
She then told him that she would report him to the police. She went to the Criminal Investigation Department and made a statement which was obtained from her. The accused didn’t give her the money after all and he was not legally represented in court.
Magistrate Samura adjourned the matter to 30th June 2025 and bail continues for the accused person.
