Mohamed Kamara, a footballer has made another appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No.2 in Freetown on five count charges to wit collecting prohibited drug without lawful authority, transports a prohibited drug without lawful authority, exposes a prohibited drug without lawful authority, deals in a prohibited drug without lawful authority and possession of a prohibited drug without lawful authority.
According to the particulars of offence, on Wednesday 19th March, 2025 at the Lumley Police checkpoint in the western area of Freetown, collected a prohibited drug without lawful authority
In count two, the accused, on the above date and place transported a prohibited drug without lawful authority.
Count three stated that on the above date and place, the accused also exposed a prohibited drug without lawful authority.
Count four stated that on the same place and date and place, the accused dealt in a prohibited drug without lawful authority.
Count five added that on the above date and place, the accused was found in possession of a prohibited drug without lawful authority.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused, no plea taken.
The Prosecutor, Detective Police Constable 18235 Kebbie K. Thoronka led prosecution witness number one DPC 19164 Alie Alhaji Turay attached to the Criminal Investigations Department, Lumley Police Station and recognized the accused and the complainant in the matter.
He recalled on 19th March, 2025 the accused was arrested and brought in at the Lumley Police Station by the arresting officer Inspector Osman Kargbo attached to the OSD Lumley Police Station. He further revealed that on the same date himself together with Sergeant Major Dumbuya he cautioned and questioned the accused in Krio language which was recorded in English language and at the conclusion of the statement, it was read over and explained to the accused which he admitted it to be true and correct by appending his right hand thumbprint witnessed by the said investigator and he signed as the recorder. The statement was produced and tendered in court to form part of the court records and at that juncture, the prosecutor sought for a short adjournment date.
The accused was not legally represented.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Fornah refused bail and sent the accused to the male correctional facility in Freetown and matter adjourned to 24th June, 2025 for further evidence.
