Information gathered by the Africa24 newspaper has revealed that one Assiatu Mansaray, formerly of the Magbinteh community, Makeni in the Northern Province of the Republic of Sierra Leone and Calaba Town in the east of Freetown is now on the run fearing for the safety of her life. Assiatu was declared wanted by both members of the Magbinteh community in Makeni and the government of Sierra Leone on accusation that she stabbed her uncle.
Credible sources confirmed to the Africa 24 newspaper that, Asiatu’s ordeal started when her uncle Pa Alimamy Mansaray whom she was staying with in Makeni started to sexually abused her following the death of her mother Fatmata Mansaray.
According to an investigation mounted by Africa24 newspaper, on the night of 11th January 2020, Assiatu was overpowered and sexually abused by her uncle, Pa Alimamy Mansaray who asked her to clean up her room.
It was during the scuffle that Pa Mansaray was stabbed by Assiatu. Pa Mansaray was later referred to the Makeni government hospital for further medication but could not survive the pain while the matter was reported to the Makeni Police Division for further investigation. Since the incident occured Assiatu Mansaray’s location remain unknown.
However, other sources say Assiatu Mansaray escaped from the trouble spot, fled from the village and headed to Freetown where she relocated to a former schoolmate Zainab with whom she was staying with for about two weeks, as the search continues.
A community member at Calaba Town, who spoke to Africa24 newspaper on condition of anonymity explained that Assiatu has not been seen but her life is in danger. He revealed that strong men continue to visit their community asking for Assiatu who they normally refer to as enemy of the state, threatening that anytime they set eyes on her they will execute her immediately.
In an interview with a senior police officer at the Kissy Police station in Freetown regarding the matter, he confirmed that they have received report of alleged murder from Makeni and that the accused was in Calaba Town in Freetown which they are investigating. He also confirmed that Miss Assiatu Mansaray is wanted by the Sierra Leone Police.
Meanwhile, the Sierra Leone police issued a warrant of arrest for Assiatu Mansaray on the 26th February 2020, as search continues all over the country with a reward of Forty Million Leones (Le 40,000,000) to be given to anybody who will disclose her whereabouts.
Africa24 newspaper has also received credible report that the elder son of late Pa Alimamy Mansaray is desperately searching for Assiatu, also the community youth at Magbinteh community and Calaba Town where she was hiding are looking for her and have vowed to deal with her mercilessly for the alleged muder of Pa Alimamy Mansaray.
