Many Sierra Leoneans for quite some time now have continue to fall victims of financial as well as travel scams with fake foreign organizations swindling their monies without mercy and as unusual always go scot-free.
But who should be blamed, the fraudsters or the victims themselves?
Realistically, the victims are largely responsible for their unfortunate situation because they have deliberately failed to learn from past experiences where many others have been hoodwinked by these foreign criminals.
These fraudulent organizations are able to easily lure their victims for a very simple reason, their eagerness to make “quick money.”
Wealth Builders, Qnet and most recently Super Advertis are among many other fake organizations that have duped their unsuspecting victims including petty traders and students millions, if not billions of leones, thus removing the crust of their economic wounds.
Many students have dropped out of school and other learning institutions as a result. Like those who wanted to make quick cash, many others have also fallen prey to these sham organizations in their desperation to travel abroad.
In as much as it’s the responsibility of a government to protect its citizens in all circumstances, it is also worth noting that, the people help protect themselves and their businesses, otherwise, they will continue to suffer similar fate from crook business people.
