In a significant development in Rokrima Bana village, Masumgbala Chiefdom in Kambia district, the Chief Whip of the opposition in Parliament who also doubles as the MP representing Masumgbala chiefdom, Hon Abdul Karim Kamara on Friday 20th June 2025 handed over a state-of-the-art health clinic single handedly constructed for his people in the chiefdom.
The hospital is equiped with modern hospital beds as well as other medical equipment that are hardly found in many big hospitals across Sierra Leone.
Rokrima Bana is a densely populated community for many years without any health facility.
The ceremony was witnessed by the APC Secretary General, Lansana Dumbuya Esq. including a barage of APC stalwarts, MPs, district stakeholders and party supporters from all walks of life in Kambia district and beyond.
Making a statement on behalf of stakeholders, a prominent senior figure, Alpha Ajasco Kamara described Hon Abdul Karim Kamara as a symbol of remarkable development that has transformed the lives of vulnerable of his constituents in Kambia district.
“We have a son that worth the salt. we are proud of having such leaders that shows no boundary when cascading his development for his people and he is worth emulating,” Kamara proudly stated.
Kamara said their community has benefited a lot of developments since Hon. AKK took over the mantle of leadership in their chiefdom.
He stated that as constituents, they are always ready to support the chief hip in all his endeavours.
The Kambia District Council chairman, Abdul Mansaray Masarico said from the data they received so far from the hospitals, Kambia is among the districts with the highest infant mortality rate.
He said he was very pleased with the Hon. AKK for complimenting the effort of the Council in addressing the perineal problem the people are facing in the health sector.
He emphasised on the importance of the project which will benefit not only the Masumgbala Chiefdom but the district as a whole.
He alluded to the fact that the Council is appreciative of such a modern health clinic that wil serve thousands in the Chiefdom.
Hon AKK meanwhile, recalled how his people has suffered excruciating health issues for years.
He also narrated a sadden story about a pregnant women who told him during his visit in the community that when she gave birth, she will name him Hon. AKK if he is a son.
Sadly, Hon AKK revealed that when the woman was ready to give birth, she was taken to government hospital but she died on the road.
“This was the reason I took a decision to construct this health clinic in this community. That Pregnant woman and the baby should not have lost their lives if there was a health facility,” he lamented.
The MP applauded the support of the local chiefs since he began his political journey in 2017.
“The Chiefs are very supportive in all of my political and development endeavors and they have played very pivotal role in making the APC gain support in the community,” he added.
Hon. AKK also disclosed plans to commission another massive community projects ranging from health clinics, schools and community centers in September.
He said the community has been magninous to the APC and he is ready to show the people that even though they are in opposition but they can use the little they have to transform their communities.
Hon. Kamara informed the mammoth crowd that he is currently paying University fees for over 50 students while in seven years of his stewardship he has undertaking 12 building projects in the district.
In his keynote statement, Lawyer Lansana Dumbuya expressed appreciation to Hon. Abdul Karim Kamara for demonstrating tremendous work in addressing the health difficulties of his people in the Chiefdom.
Lawyer Dubumbuya said the spirit of the APC is to always showcase massive development in communities across the country.
He admonished the community people to take good care of the hospital and called on all to work together for the advancement of APC and Kambia in general.
