Report reaching the medium from the corridors of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) intimated that one Ibrahim John Fofanan, has been declared wanted by the Police following his alleged involvement in the August 10, 2022 protest.
Youth on that fateful day of August 10, 2022 mounted a protest against incumbent president Julius Maada Bio whom they accused of maladministration and maleficent corruption.
The youth expressed their frustration against the Bio’s led-government of poor handling of the economy; his inability to keep up to promises made to youth during his campaign in 2018 to creating employment.
They further accused president Bio of bringing untold hardship as the standard of living deteriorated.
The August 10, 2022 incident sparked wild protest across the country as youth took to the streets; chanting “Maada Bio Must Go”.
Police described the protest as illegal; there was heated confrontation between police and protesters that left several youth dead including six police officers and the wanton destruction of public properties.
Youth and police were running helter skater as the situation became chaotic and there was indiscriminate firing of teargas and live bullet against the marauding protesters.
The youth were carrying stones, sticks and other weapons in order to resist the security apparatus that were on the streets to calm down the incident.
According to credible sources, Ibrahim John Fofanan was among several youth that were apprehended on August 10, 2022.
Police sources say, Ibrahim as ringleader and others were allegedly accused to have set ablaze the Bassa Town Police station in Waterloo.
Sources disclosed that Ibrahim and six others were taken to an undisclosed detention center and detained for about six month.
Impeccable sources informed this medium that on February 27, 2023, Ibrahim and co six detainees were boarded on a Hilux Land Rover van with their eyes blindfolded for another undisclosed location.
An in-depth investigation conducted by this medium revealed that the motive to take Ibrahim and others to an unknown location was to kill them.
Our source went on that it will serve as bitter lesson to others for their involvement in an illegal protest against the State.
Verified report disclosed to this medium that Ibrahim however, made a miraculous escape; untied his blindfolded scarf and went into an undisclosed location.
Ibrahim’s action is deemed as unlawful; Police termed him as a fugitive and have declared him a wanted person for running away from legal authority.
