A high-level all-party Indian Parliamentary Delegation, led by H. E. Shri Shrikant Eknath Shinde, Hon’ble Member of Parliament has arrived in Freetown on a two day visit from 28-30 May 2025.
The visit is part of a diplomatic outreach launched by the Government of India in the aftermath of the heinous terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on 22 April 2025, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent tourists.
“The visit of all-party delegation reflects India’s resolute commitment to countering terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and underscores its broader effort to engage the international community to ensure peace and stability,” an official statement says.
During the visit, the Indian Delegation will hold high-level discussions with senior leaders of the Republic of Sierra Leone, including: the Hon’ble Vice President, Rt. Hon’ble Speaker of Parliament, Hon’ble Members of Parliament, the Hon’ble Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Hon’ble Deputy Defence Minister, and the National Security Coordinator of Sierra Leone.
As part of its public outreach, the delegation will also interact with mainstream media representatives in Sierra Leone and engage with members of the Indian Diaspora, reaffirming the Government of India’s commitment to its citizens abroad.
India and Sierra Leone enjoy warm and friendly relations rooted in shared democratic values, South-South cooperation, and a common vision for a secure and prosperous future.
This visit is expected to further consolidate bilateral relations and foster deeper strategic understanding between the two nations.
