The Deputy Chairman for Energy and Mines Committee, ECOWAS Parliament, Hon. Saa Emerson Lamina, has called for the enactment of generic laws within the sub-region.
At a delocalized town hall meeting meant to discuss on plastic waste management in Winneba, Ghana, he expressed his aspirations and admiration for the good and workable policies and legislations that have the potential to improve lives and promote prosperity in the sub-region.
He distinguishably spoke on the growing effects of urbanization being precipitated by lack of opportunities for people living in countryside, with the aim to forcing the youths to challenge in grabbing their future potentials in the cities.
He expressed admiration for the creativity and innovation by Jospong”, the waste management company, marked by their relentless commitment to creating jobs and opportunities in Ghana. The construction of the compost and recycling plant by the company has in no small way serves as a benchmark for job creation, employment and opportunities for the youth population in Ghana.”
Hon. Lamina further invited heads of state and governments to partner in making generic legislations and policies that would give back the youths their deserving rights to employment, thus connecting the West Africa nations into industrial and economic power, a conduit that he believes would foster growth and prosperity of the West African nations.
He therefore called on the compost recycling company to expand their coverage in other countries within the sub-region.
