In a bid to upgrade the standard of local coachers in the country, the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) is presently hosting a five-day workshop focused on the Coach Educators’ Development Pathway, aimed at improving coach education and mentorship at the SLFA Academy in Freetown.
The FIFA Technical Expert Frans Mokata Mogashoa from South Africa, the programme was organized to empower SLFA Coach Educators to enhance the local coaching ecosystem. The initiative is part of FIFA’s global effort to assist Member Associations in developing qualified and competent coaches.
Some of the participants including Mohamed Lamin Kamara, head coach of the Sierra Leone U-20 national team and East End Lions, Ishmail Kallon, and Mohamed Bilo Bah are Coach Educators.
Those educators are undergoing mentorship and assessment, focusing on critical areas such as problem-solving, talent development, knowledge sharing, and leadership in coach education.
