The attention of the most respected animal has been drawn to the operations of mobile companies in the country, particularly Orange-Sierra Leone.
Not too long ago, subscribers called on the brave bird expressing their dissatisfactions over the poor quality service rendered by the company.
Such a service has been given to subscribers for longer time now.
To support the claims made by the people (subscribers) the regulating body that is responsible to regulate mobile companies in the country, the National Communications Authority (NatCA) has recently slammed a one Million Dollars fine to Orange Sierra Leone.
According to the release by NatCA, it states that despite numerous engagements with Orange Sierra Leone, and assurances of service improvement, they have missed the deadlines and one being a deadline of 15th December, 2024 indicated by ORANGE SL. The release states “there remains a significant gap in meeting satisfactory service standard across the country the release states.”
In keeping with its mandates, NatCA has therefore invoked relevant provisions of its Act to penalize Orange Sierra Leone.
In addition, NatCA has also given directives to the company (Orange SL) to implement the necessary network enhancement before the end of February 2025.
Furthermore, it said, if Orange fails to comply will result in further penalties, and in addition NatCA urged Orange SIERRA Leone to take immediate and effective actions to rectify the situation.
The bird as usual went out to sound the views of people on important issues relating to national interest.
The bird noticed that, the views of the people were uniform; they spoke the same thing by saying indeed the National Communications Authority (NatCA) did not miss the point– the service of Orange SL is very, very poor.
Others even described the company as the worst now in the country in terms of providing mobile services in the country.
Network service is poor, their 4G as they call, and so it is nothing to write home about.
The unfortunate part is that the bird hasn’t a mobile phone.
Otherwise, it should have tested the network and the so-called 4G of Orange to see how true the allegations against them are.
