Waterloo has not recorded too many fatalities resulting accidents this year than was in 2023.
Only few reports of deaths occurring from vehicle-crash were being complained of last month alone.
At least only one case of accident is reported of which likely involved the death of one person.
Waterloo, which is about 21 miles away from the capital Freetown, is a big and dense community with many people living there now than before.
Businesses flourish a lot as there are Indians, Fullahs from Senegal and Guinea and those born in Sierra Leone who are doing all sorts of merchandise businesses.
This has made this rural – urban, found in the Western Area Rural District, to be populated with a number of schools around run by private individuals. There are also community schools sponsored by the government.
A lot of the traders here are sending their children to some of these private schools but which are not properly regulated by the government as they are not built at more safeguard environments.
As a result accidents involving children’s deaths have become so become in Waterloo Town, worrying more parents who have lost their young ones on vehiclular crashes.
Almost two years ago, a jeep killed two pupils in front of a school called Samjona International Academy.
This school is carelessly built just few metres to the highway.
The school children, a boy, who is around 8 years and a girl aged 5 years, were crossing by this wide highway and were slapped by an incoming vehicle from the province which was running at a very high speed. People have similar being killed at this Bottom Mango the same year those children were knocked off by a jeep.
This particular area where a private school is at Bottom Mango in Waterloo is not fit to be there.
It lacks a wide compound and it is so close to the tarred road. Its position makes it a serious risk to the schoolg-going pupils because the school is on the highway.
No driver while driving will know that there is a school standing there at Bottom Mango because it is hard to know, it is inside by the government hospital.
So most often drivers of vehicles will speed up in this area after they may have passed Waterloo Police Headquarters or Post Office or from Tombo Junction.
The school is just a few metres away from where the Post Office is.
It is advised that government takes now an action quickly by banning this school, Samjona International Academy Primary School, from operating along this highway at Bottom Mango in Waterloo.
