The Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA), under the dynamic leadership of Director General Yankuba Askia Bio, is implementing strategic initiatives to strengthen port security and improve user experience at the Port of Freetown.
Two major projects are currently underway: the transformation of the car park into an ultra-modern parking facility and the construction of a spacious, comfortable waiting room for visitors and port users. These initiatives are being executed under the supervision of the Ports Engineering Services Department, led by Director Lansana Sheriff.
These developments, centered around the footbridge area, aim to enhance security by creating a controlled environment where access is limited to authorized individuals. By safeguarding vehicles and equipment, and ensuring proper identity verification, SLPHA is actively working to prevent unauthorized entry and ensure the safety of all port users.
Once completed, these facilities will not only improve the functionality of the Port but also reflect SLPHA’s commitment to upholding the highest standards in port operations. As the Port of Freetown plays a central role in Sierra Leone’s international trade, providing a secure and welcoming environment for importers and the business community remains a top priority.
Under Mr. Bio’s proactive and energetic leadership, SLPHA continues to address security challenges head-on, paving the way for a safer, more efficient, and user-friendly port environment for all stakeholders.
