As things unfold, the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has adjourned its awaited elective congress from June to July 26, 2025, in Freetown.
Meanwhile, 57 delegates would vote for a new executive committee to lead the country’s football administration for the next four years.
The last ordinary congress held on April 26, was marred by troubles and unresolved clashes. Representative delegates rejected the proposed amendments to the SLFA statutes, with 36 voting against adoption and only 20 in favour which fell short of the required two-thirds majority..
Notwithstanding the chaos, key committees were formed, including the Disciplinary, Ethics and Electoral Committees, tasked with the responsibility of ensuring a fair election process. However, delegates raised concerns over unpaid allowances and logistical issues, including being forced to vacate the venue midway for a wedding reception.
Presently, Bo Rangers Chairman, Babadi Kamara and Thomas Daddy Brima are the key candidates in the race for the FA presidency.
