Thirty-eight-years-old Thomas Karrow who is a commercial motor bike rider has made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown.
He was accused of two count charges on conspiracy to defraud.
The offence stated that on Thursday 18th April 2024, at Siaka Stevens Street Freetown, the accused with an unknown person defrauded one Andrew George the sum of One hundred and Fifteen Thousand Leones (Le 115,000,00).
Count 2 stated that on the same date and place the accused fraudulently caused Andrew George to pay the sum of one hundred and fifteen thousand Leones (Le115,000,00), to Mohamed Sesay purporting to be the dealer of a unregistered RAV4 Motor Vehicle, knowing same to be false.
Inspector Kadie M Taylor was the leading Prosecution Witness number six.
According to her she knew the complaint as her driver and also the accused in this matter.
The witness stated that on Thursday the 18th April 2024, On that day she sent the complaint and one claud to Freetown to inspect a car that she wanted to purchase upon that she gave one Kemoh Mansaray cheque of Hundred million Leones and fiscal cash of Fifteen Million old Leones to pay for the said vehicle after they have confirmed that the vehicle was in good condition.
She concluded that Kemoh confirmed that he made payment to the accused.
The accused cross examined the witness and asked the witness if she knows him.
She answered and the accused talked through the phone on how to pay. And according to her, she stated that the caller identified himself as the accused.
The accused stated that the witness never knew him before. He asked why the witness did not make statements to the police.
According to the witness she was in Makeni at the time of the transaction.
The accused was sent to the male correctional facility. The matter was adjourned to 4th November 2024.
