The smart and dynamic Member of Parliament representing the people of Western Area Rural, particularly the Goderich community, Hon. Ibrahim Kabba commonly known as “Small Borbor” during his debate on the Appropriation Act, 2024 in the Chamber of Parliament acknowledged the tremendous work of President Bio in transforming and developing the nation and went on to refer to the 2024 budget as a “fisherman friend”.
Hon.Kabba said the President’s speech is like the budget speech and acknowledged the importance of the budget. He said the budget made several provisions for the fishery sector and went on to compare past budgets for the same sector. He referred to the budget as a “fisherman’s friend”.
He said the budget made a lot of provision for both the industrial and artisanal fishermen and also inland fishing.
He also said the budget made provision to support local councils on the fishery sectors and underscored that the budget supports wages for the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources
He said the previous budget set for the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources by the previous government was minimal and applauded this government for the huge budgetary allocation to the fisheries sector. “The fishery sector and tourism should be supported to gain employment and revenue mobilization for the State” he affirmed.
The MP acknowledged the support of Free Quality Education. He said many schools centers have been established in the provinces to avoid teenage pregnancy and social activities that affect the upbringing of children. He praised President Bio and his government for transforming the education sector.
In the tourism sector, he pleaded for road construction leading to the tourist attraction centers.
He pointed out Sussex road which is a link to the governor’s beach, River No. 2, Lakka, Hamilton, Old Adonkia road in Goderich which is linking the fish landing sites which are prime roads in the development of the tourism sector. He called on the government to do more in the construction of these roads and other roads connected to the tourist sites in the country.
