Members, supporters and sympathizers of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party have insisted that President Julius Maada Bio has proven them right that he, the president and his governing Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) stole their votes through the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) thereby robbing them of the much anticipated victory.
They reechoed this claim, following President Maada Bio’s nationwide address on Tuesday 24th October, 2023 following the conclusion of the national dialogue between the two parties mediated the Africa Union (AU), ECOWAS and the commonwealth in anticipation to end the political stalemate in the country.
President Bio in one instance stated that “dialogue and compromise” are part of governance system in our country.
These aggrieved APC supporters have however interpreted the president’s statement in different form while accusing their leadership of the very compromise the president had mentioned by accepting the outcome of the dialogue and particularly their leader Dr. Samura Kamara willingly appending his signature on the final communiqué.
APC members had wanted their delegation to stick to their initial party stance either for the ECSL to produce the disaggregated voter data or to have a rerun of the presidential election to clear any doubt of their apprehensions.
