Twenty-five years old Foday Sesay a businessman made his first appearance before Magistrate Augustine Brima Samura of Pademba Road court No.8 on two count charges ranging from Larceny Contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, on Saturday 26th April 2025 at Freetown Road, Lumley in the western area of Freetown, stole nine thousand five hundred United States dollars equivalent to two hundred and thirty three thousand seven hundred and thirty three thousand seven hundred leones (233,700,00) property of Ibrahim Fofanah.
Count two further stated that on the same date and place, the accused stole seven thousand United States dollars equivalent to one hundred and seventy two thousand two hundred leones (172,200) property of Osman Bah.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused person he pleaded not guilty.
Counsel representing the accused C.M.B Amara applied for bail for and on behalf of the accused person that he is a Sierra Leonean resident within the jurisdiction that he has reliable sureties who are willing and ready to go into recognizance on his behalf that he will not interfere with prosecution witness or witnesses nor will he jump bail. He made his application pursuant to section 79 (3) of the Criminal Procedure Act No.32 of 1965
Meanwhile Magistrate Samura granted bail to the accused person in the sum of five hundred thousand Leones with two sureties in like sum, the sureties should be ordinary residents in the western area of Freetown and should produce national identity cards depicting their addresses in Freetown and bail to be approved by the Deputy assistant Registrar. The matter adjourned to 3rd July, 2025.
