The Wise Bird has been receiving persistent calls and messages from the general public in respect of the narrowness of Abacha Street. It is one of the main streets leading to the central of the City Freetown.

Having received those calls and messages, the bird flew form his usual sitting place to get firsthand information on the issue.

Reaching at Abacha Street, adjacent to PZ, the bird noticed that, new railings have been erected there by way of continuing to narrow the street.

The Wise Bird cannot give any reason why the government has taken such a swift decision to narrow the Sani Abacha Street, when in fact the road is already small and to the disadvantage of road users, but government continue to narrow it.

The most respected animal is of the view that, at a time like this, government should be thinking of improving the road instead of reducing it at the detriment of vehicles drivers and pedestrians’ movements.

What actually comes to mind is that, the government only wants to deprive or disadvantage traders at Abacha Street because according information, the ABACHAS are perceived to be supporters of the Main Opposition APC party.

The question the bird wants to ask is, is such call a development in a country?

The Wise Bird will say without hesitation that, this is just a way to inconvenience road users and motorists.

The wise and experience animal starts to put the blame squarely to those advising the President and by extension the government.

This is a clear show that, some institutions in President Bio’s government especially the heads are square pegs in round holes.

No sober minded Director will be thinking of erecting additional railings at Abacha Street when already are there railings already.

The bird as usual went out to sound the views of people, all those the bird came in contact with expressed dismay over the erection of additional railings at Abacha Street.

For all you know maybe the President did not even know about what is happening but the people will put all the blame on the President because he appointed the wrong people in important institution, one Mr. Brima Tommy said to the bird.

Some other people the bird spoke with exonerated the President by saying some of the bad things that are taking place the President is unaware because he is the President he carries the blame.

The bird did not see any reason to erect additional railings at Abacha Street when the roads are very small.

The bird flew to both Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) and the Sierra Leone Roads Safety Authority (SLRSA) to ask who is directly responsible, but unfortunately the bird was never allowed to enter into any of the offices.

However, the bird will continue to make a follow up on this ugly development in the heart of the city burgeoning business and it will report accordingly.
