Bra Parrot is a very decent bird and always calls things by their correct and proper names; that is more the reason why the bird is so much loved by people in and out of the Country.

The brave bird is of the view that, the rate at which the Sierra Leone Police are corrupt these days cannot be over emphasized to say the least about them; simply because when you go to the Courts you find them there, on the streets to control traffic you see them, in offices they are there too.

To show how ‘corrupt’ the Force is, very recently at Sani Abacha Street one of the recruits assigned to man the street was seen asking one of the traders for money to allow her to sell at a particular place, so, once a corrupt police, always a corrupt police old or new.

Few days ago, a friend of Bra Parrot the Eagle was about to get married (Wed) and as customs demand, the Bridegroom (man) needs to get the following items for the wedding, kola-nuts, bitter kola, thread and needles and calabash to name but a few.

Bra Parrot accompanied the Eagle to Magazine-Cut (Kola ground) to get the above named items. On arrival at Magazine, the brave bird noticed that, vehicles were all over the place as if Magazine-Cut is now a new parking ground (space) for all types of vehicles at the detriment of the traders selling kola-nuts and other food stuffs.

It takes time for brave bird and the Eagle to get a space to stand and buy the items they needed. Because the wise bird did not want to tell lies, the Parrot contacted few of the traders; this is what they told him and his friend.

According to them, the traders said the place has now turned to an official parking space for all types of vehicles.

Many a time there has always been confrontation between the police and the traders selling at the place as to who has right over the other.

The traders are also saying that, they are paying market-dues every day to market keepers so they must have freedom to sell given that they can only get money to pay keepers when they sell. They went further to say that, the police are giving more breathing space to the drivers more than who pays market-dues to the government to run the State.

In fact, some of the traders alleged that, the police usually say, the place is one of their sources of getting money from the drivers by way of allowing them to park their vehicles as long as possible.

The traders further alleged that, even the Local Unit Commander (LUC) knows about the deal and that, a special Police Officer collects the money (s) from the drivers in one of the shops at Fourah Bay Road on a daily basis.

Bra Parrot can categorically say, the alleged corruption in the police Force is at its highest peak at every tick of the clock.

However, the brave bird went to the Eastern Police Division to get the side of the LUC the brave bird was not allowed to see the LUC at the detriment of the police Force.

After the Wedding, Bra Parrot went back to Magazine-Cut (Colah ground) to see whether the situation had changed, to the dismay of both the brave bird and the Eagle the situation remains the same at the detriment of the traders.

The traders are also saying that, the drivers are bragging that, nothing will prevent them from parking at Magazine-Cut (Colah ground) and that the police are in their pockets.

This is now a case for the LUC at the Eastern Police Division, whether indeed the police are in the pockets of the drivers as they say to the hearing of many people.

To the best of Bra Parrot’s knowledge Magazine-Cut has never been a parking space for vehicles of any kind, the only parking space the brave bird knows of is the Fire-Burn parking space, but because of the alleged corruption attitude of the police they have turned Magazine-Cut as a permanent parking space to offload goods at the detriment of the traders who are the builders of the economy.

The brave bird will continue to make a follow up on the issue to unearth some of the unpatriotic police officers around the Fourah Bay Road axis.
