Nimikoro have emerged victorious in the just concluded Kono Inter-community Gala.
The Kono District Football Association (KDFA) successfully concluded their long-awaited inter-chiefdom gala competition on Eid-Mubarak-(Pray day) at the Koidu community football field.
The community league was organized as one of the key platforms meant to tap out outstanding football talents in the district.
In an exciting final match, Nimikoro Chiefdom defeated Sandor Chiefdom with a 3-2 goal margin.
Speaking to the Chairman, Abu Bakarr Mansaray expressed his joy, stating that this year’s tournament marks the beginning of their vision for promoting development of soccer in the district though their unfortunate challenges.
He emphasized the competition’s role in fostering unity among the district’s chiefdoms.
The event boasted a remarkable turnout, with an estimated 85% of the district’s populace in attendance, including traditional leaders, lawmakers, government representatives, prominent woman, business tycoons and all walks of life.
Chairman Mansaray further acknowledged the recent Veterans Competition’s success, where the Koeyor Veterans of Nimikoro secured victory over Koidu Veterans.
Both Nimikoro Chiefdom team and the Koeyor Veterans were presented with medals during the closing ceremony.
“We are happy for the Kono district authorities for their unwavering support and called for continued collaboration to achieve the KDFA’s goals.”
“The association is seeking for aid from different quarters. The support of the youth and other stakeholders are vital and significant at all times,” he noted.
