In a bid to beef up intelligence within communities, the Central police Division of Sierra Leone Police (SLP), has certified Eighteen (18), Local Police Partnership Board Zonal Heads (LPPB).

On Saturday, November 23rd 2024 at their Central Police Office in Freetown, while speaking during the session, the Local Unit Commander LUC central police station, CSP, Osman Ibrahim Kamara, commonly known as a son of the soil, said the inaugural event highly focused on promoting security in the eighteen zones.

They include Kalloh Town, Kroo Bay, Regent road, Congo cross, New England Ville, and other areas respectively. Adding that the Central Division will effectively and proactively work with LPPB to curb crime rates in their communities. “Community policing and partnership are key in a nation building and so T

the Zonal Heads would work with the Community Service Volunteers CSV and well-meaning youth in their communities.”

“We believe and trust in their information in society over the year’s based on their positive strives being made so far, and technical and leadership trainings will be given to all zonal heads in the future, ” he said.

Chairman LPPB, Mohamed Bazzy Sesay said he was giving 90 days to reform the zones by conducting a free, fair and credible election, and also would be preaching against Kush. “No leader is perfect, a listening leader can always achieve good results especially when dealing with issues that have to do with community development. Such matters need stakeholder’s cooperation.”

“A leader is subject to mistakes and corrections. A good leader must have the ability and wisdom to learn well, he said.

LPPB is now alive due to positive improvement, and so we have made great landmarks to promote the work of SLP at the central business district CBD, and we have the mandate to settled minor cases,’ he said.

Kadi Kallon, Chairlady, Regent Road Zone, grumbles that the LPPB volunteers are not on payroll regardless of their good work they are doing, and he noted that government is unable to capture them for support through the consolidated revenue fund.

“We are ready and willing to assist our nation, the support of donor partners and government will benefit our dream despite the economic difficulties in the country.”
