For a very long time now the most patriotic animal in this kingdom has been following the operations of NGOs both local and international and have observed that some of them are fake and operating illegally.
The Parrot refers to these fake NGOs as FLY BY NIGHT because they are operating in the dark.
These rouge NGOs lack the requisite capacity to undertake any developmental activity or projects.
All they care for is money. They are all over the place pretending to be operating in the interest of the people, but in actual fact they are only operating in their own interests.
Of recent, Bra Parrot embarked on a tour, visiting every nook and cranny to get firsthand information about the NGOs in this country following the report from the public that most of them are fake.
Apart from what the Bird has received from the public, the latest information he has also got from the Hon. House of Parliament about some NGOs has just buttressed the public concerns.
The bird has been reliably informed that a Parliamentary Oversight Committee on National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) chaired by a no-nonsense Hon. Abdul Latify Sesay, recently summoned some NGOs in Parliament to make clarification about their activities.
What Bra Parrot got from that engagement will shock members of the public that, some of them were unable to produce relevant documents including financial statements, Service Level Agreement (SLA), and status reports to support their operations.
Some of the NGOs that responded positively at the hearing according to what the bird gathered were Plan International, People’s Development Foundation and World Vision.
One of the local NGOs that impressed the committee was the Cotton Tree Foundation as they were able to produce reports on their activities.
The bird as usual went out to get the views of the people on this important issue.
Most of the people the bird contacted expressed dismay over some of these NGOs in relation to their activities.
The people furthered that, most of them including Civil Society Organizations are all operatives of the ruling government as they are all fake and called for the reduction of the number of these NGOs in the country.
The bird will be monitoring the activities of NGOs and CSOs in the country.
