The Trans Organize Crime Unit (TOCU) at Hastings recently interrogated a huge number of young girls that were presumably in-between ages of 17-18 and early 20th who were on their way to Liberia.
In an interview with one of them who claimed to be Aminata Bangura disclosed that their mission is Bagdad in the Middle East to go and seek for greener pastures; but they wanted to use Liberia as transit point since it will be very difficult for them in Sierra Leone or Guinea to easily accomplish their aim more so when they do not have all necessary documents to guarantee their adventure.
When asked why they are leaving their mother’s land in a caravan; they lamented that life is very precarious for them in this country and they are not convinced that situation will change soon especially when most of them are not educated or trained in any skill venture that will enhance them employment.
But they expressed hope that if they go to any Arab state, especially Bagdad, they will easily engage in domestic and other manual jobs that will earn them money.
When further asked about other Sierra Leoneans who are nostalgically crying for their repatriation from these Arab countries because of what they dubbed as excessive human slavery meted on them by the Arabs, they sounded resolute in their decision to leave, adding that others have survived there so it depends on destiny which varies and they have great confidence that they will make it up; if they reach their destination.
Police sources claimed that most of them have agents in the country, but they have concealed them in the investigation.
Similar groups were also said to have been apprehended at the Kabia-Guinea border on diverse dates.
