The Government of Sierra Leone through the Office of the Vice President on Monday 2nd June, 2025 hosted a dinner in honour of the Prime Minister of Senegal-His Excellency Ousmane Sonko, who is in Sierra Leone on two days visit.
The Vice President Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh welcomed the Prime Minister of Senegal to Freetown on behalf of President Julius Maada Bio.
“On behalf of His Excellency, President Julius Maada Bio, we warmly welcome the Prime Minister of Senegal to Freetown,” he said.
He underscored the importance of the visit by the Prime Minister of Senegal, noting that the visit aims to deepen bilateral cooperation and foster strategic engagement across all sectors in Sierra Leone.
In a light-hearted moment on Monday evening, the Honourable Vice President acknowledged the long wait for dinner and opted to keep his remarks brief.
He highlighted the schedule of the visiting Prime Minister on Tuesday 3rd June, 2025 including high-level working sessions between President Bio, the Prime Minister, and key ministers.
He concluded his remarks by proposing a toast to the enduring friendship between Sierra Leone and Senegal.
The Senegalese Prime Minister, in his remarks toast, said that he is in Sierra Leone to deepen discussions relating to economic ties already established between the two countries.
He recalled having long discussions with Vice President Jalloh during his visits to Senegal, noting that part of the discussions was the invitation extended to him by Vice President Jalloh to visit Sierra Leone.
He applauded Sierra Leone Vice President for the invitation, and extended appreciation to President Julius Maada Bio for participating in the inauguration of President Faye of Senegal.
Mrs. Francess Piage Alghali, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International cooperation in Sierra Leone, welcomed the Senegalese Prime Minister and delegation, and informed them that the dinner was hosted to honour them.
She stated that the presence of the Prime Minister in Sierra Leone is a testament of the strong relationships that exist between the two countries.
She assured him of Sierra Leone desire to strengthen the bonds through collaboration.
