At first it was a moment of tension as delegates line up in queue to finally exercise their franchise to whom they want to steer the mantle of President.
The mantle was fought between two contenders Mr. Abdulai Bah and Mr. Ibrahim Sam.
In a bid to the ease tension officials from Sierra Leone Electoral Commission (ECSL) educated the delegates on how to vote especially when they have only two candidates.
They admonished the delegates to take into recognizance that the pictures of the two contenders is boldly printed on the ballot papers and delegates have to vote secretly by either fingerprint system or pen ticking against the candidate of their choice.
Or through voting with papers through a ballot box.
The two contenders sent a clear message to all delegates that the election must not be a do or die affair but rather whosoever wins it will be the winner for the entire Union.
The development of the Union must be the priority for all.
The Local Unit Commander, Chief Superintendent of Police Murana Kamara, had advised delegates to comport themselves since election.
This a Union meaning you should be united so that development will come to the union.
At the end of the voting exercise, delegates were asked to stay outside the hall to wait the results whilst two representatives for each of the presidential contenders witnessed the counting process.
The media and other observers were also present during the counting process.
At the end of the counting process Mr. lbrahim Sam got 84 votes and Mr. Abdulai Bah got 73 votes.
And there was one void vote and one absentee.
Mr. Alpha Amadu Bah called upon all members to be law-abiding and to continue work where he had left as president.
Singing and dancing climaxed the election in a peaceful atmosphere.
All ballot papers were placed in ballot boxes and were sealed.
