A Community Based Organization (CBO) Coalition Against Drugs Abuse (CADA – SL), established to fight the negative impact of narcotic drugs (KUSH), has met stakeholders in Kenema City, to strategize ways that will help fight against the Kush prevalence in the country.
In an interview with the National Coordinator CADA- SL, Madam Francess Yatta Jusu, she stated that the vision of the organization was to empower communities to break the circle of drugs abuse and addiction, thus fostering a culture of youth wellness, resilience and recovery.
Madam Jusu said their main objective was to build a country where drugs abuse was no longer a threat to personal, societal and environmental health and where recovery was embraced as a pathway to personal growth and fulfillment of the future.
The coordinator said, another focus of the coalition was to help reduce the risk and vulnerability of youth to Kush and other narcotic substances in our communities.
It can be reduced through awareness raising and youth education against taking Kush and other drugs.
Madam Francess Yatta Jusu further stated that her organization had met stakeholders to map out ways, in enhancing the fight against Kush in that party of the country.
While discussing with the Provincial Sectary and staff, madam Jusu said it was very urgent for government and stakeholders to take the issue of Kush very seriously, as it is still destroying youth and the elderly.
A similar engagement was done with the Civil Society, Ministry of Health, the Sierra Leone Correctional Center, and Bike Riders and Drivers Union.
