The Sierra Leone U-20 Shooting Stars lost by two goals to nil to Senegal in the Finals of the WAFU A Qualifiers.
The match which took place at the SKD Sports Complex in Monrovia, Liberia, saw Sierra Leone defeated by their counterpart, on Saturday, September 28, 2024.
Shooting Stars faced the Senegal U20 National Team in the grand finale of the WAFU A Africa Nations Cup qualifiers, after ninety minutes of play, and the final score was 2-0 in favor of Senegal.
Soccer fans at home and abroad have deeply expressed dismay about the performance of the players and backroom staff for a poor job done in the U20 Africa Nations Cup competition this year.
“The performance of the Salone players against Senegal was not encouraging at all, our national teams need to improve in international tournaments by winning games because government is wasting the taxpayers’ money on them,” they said.
In the other hand, Momoh Kamara who is the captain is the highest goal scorer and best player awarded for the tournament.
During the tournament, Shooting Stars played five matches, winning against Liberia, Guinea-Bissau, and Gambia, drawing with Guinea, and losing to Senegal in Group A zone.
