There is no doubt about it that people who know me in this Republic as patriot, seasoned and experienced journalist know that he loves reading daily newspapers to abreast himself with daily events in the country.

Going through one of the newspapers called ‘Global Times’ perceived to be a pro-government newspaper, Bra Parrot came across the committee set up by government comprising of representatives, from both the government, the opposition APC, development partners, non -governmental organizations (NGO) and the media to review the disputed election process as agreed on after the recent international mediated dialogue to end the political stalemate following the June 24th general elections.

The Committee called the Independent Cross-Party Electoral Management Committee (ICPEMC) which has already been launched by President Maada Bio is to review the Electoral Systems and other electoral Management Bodies.

Seen the composition of the Committee the Wise Bird jumped sky-high with joy to congratulate the President for his effort in setting up of the important Committee.

But the question that immediately followed that joyous moment was that if the Committee will actually look into the June, 24 elections process as charged, given the controversies surrounding it prior, during and after the elections.

According to the said newspaper, the Independent Cross-Party Committee on Electoral Systems and Management bodies review in Sierra Leone is set up to look at the functional capacity and operational support role to deliver credible elections in future.

But the problem the Wise Bird has with the Committee is that, its work is only to review the last election process for future elections, but what about the June 24 elections which still remains a contentious issue more especially when the opposition is still crying foul over its outcome.

To Bra Parrot, this in fact was the key reason why the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion and the Independent Cross-Party Committee on Electoral Systems and Management Bodies were both established, otherwise, there was no need.

In the absence of looking into process of the past elections for the essence of the present state of affairs, then both the Commission and the Committee are not necessary.

But please these are my personal and candid views that I believe nobody should hold the Wise Bird for.
