With 2028 general elections in Sierra Leone get on the go in a three year time, the writting has shown up in the wall for political transfers by politicians to other parties.
Many supporters of both parties (SLPP and APC) have folded up their sleeves awaiting political transfers by politicians to happen on their favour.
Most of those who support the ruling Sierra Leone People’s party are expressing concerns for the failure to recognize their efforts in bringing the SLPP to power.
Some have disclosed that since their party took over power they are not be given government positions neither have they been even noticed or recognized by their party stakeholders.
Some have attributed the current leadership of the SLPP to a greedy movement and selfish while others have described the politicians there as very ungrateful.
Supporters who spoke to this medium have said they voted for the SLPP not for positions, but now are concerned over their pattern of ruling the country.
Some are concerned over the current poor economic situation in Sierra Leone which they blame is happening as a result of bad policies implemented by the government.
“I voted the SLPP but I am yet to see much development that I had expected. I had great expectations for this particular government to turn around things especially so when the current president is a Retired soldier (Brigadier General), a young and energetic man, ” one Alusene Gbao said
Gbao said the government policies have been abandoned since the second year of his first term, adding that some of the executive orders before should have been maintained especially the one on the late for work by workers, the monthly cleaning exercise, the announcement of a limited number of travels by the president and his entourage to overseas.
He informed that such orders, had they been implemented, will not only improve the country’s development but will also restore confidence in citizens who massively voted the regime in 2018.
He said as it stands, government workers are holding workshops in private hotels prior to the president orders when sooner he assumed power in 2018.
Gbao continued that some government officials are spending huge sums of money in private hotels on conferences other than using public buildings to host conferences.
He said the choosing to host conferences at private hotels is negatively impacting the economy.
Munda Rogers, another supporter, also dilated on the need for the SLPP to consider the grassroots onboard in terms of giving them positions and he urged political SLPP stalwarts to do the needful in this regard.
Senior citizens have told this medium that, political transfers by politicians are the major obstacles to the national development of Sierra Leone.
In the APC many have told this medium that, the party is seriously in the wilderness because it is not ready to win elections.
And so many of the politicians are on the lineup to take transfers to other political parties especially the APCs.
What is more much talk of the country is the current electoral justice which the APC party stakeholders are not serious about.
Most of the supporters of the APC are angry because they consider their party hierarchy as sell out.
Grassroots supporters of the APC are planning to transfer to other political parties because they consider their leads as betrayal.
It could be recalled that this is not the first time people are undertaking political transfers.
It is not clear what the future hold on political transfers and what political party will become victorious in the next elections.
Recently, Susan Bona former flagbearer of the APC formally transfer to the SLPP in America thereby starting the ball rolling on transfers.
The biggest question many ask is that who next now that APC Susan Bona is now SLPP.
