The Public Account Committee (PAC) in Parliament, chaired by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, has informed that “the PAC will recommend to President Julius Maada Bio in order to sack all staff of the Agriculture Ministry.

This appeal has come second a time, to call for the sacking of all Agriculture staff.

According to the  Chairman, Hon Ibrahim Tawa Conteh, his committee, PAC, will prepare a letter signed by all MPs and send it to President Bio, requesting him to sack all the staff of the Ministry of Agriculture.

“This will going to be the first draconian actions that as a committee will going to take this year,” Hon Tawa said.

During the committee hearing on the account of 2023 Audit Service report, the MPs finds serious retrogressive and negligence on staff of the ministry.

The Ministry cannot produce “asset register” and evidence of huge monies allocated to them by the government.

Many vehicles and over 30 motor bikes were not trace as according to the audit report and was also confirmed during the committee hearing on Monday.

The PAC discovered during their oversight functions that agricultural sites, machinery and agricultural buildings were being abandoned.

The committee has also discovered that assets in various offices have no proper records or documentations and fertilizers and other agricultural assets also have been perished in various stores across the country.

The committee has also expressed concerns over the using of government monies in the ministry without proper accountability.

Hon Tawa Conteh and his committee have directed the Clerk of the Committee to write all those who were given vehicles from the Ministry to assemble them in Parliament for inspection on Wednesday 22 January 2025.

The Deputy Speaker has also ordered the Clerk of the Committee to write the Inspector General of the Sierra Leone Police to facilitate in bringing to Parliament the vehicles from Agriculture Ministry held in police custody.

Hon Tawa Conteh revealed that, these officials from the Ministry succeeded in failing Late President Ahmed Tejan Kabba, Ernest Bai Koroma and now they are still working relentlessly for President Julius Maada Bio to fail.
