A planned visit by Hon. Jawah Sesay to his constituency for a significant donation event was abruptly halted today when his vehicle succumbed to the deplorable condition of the Magburaka to Sambaia Bendugu road.
The incident served as a stark, real-time demonstration of the infrastructure crisis he has long campaigned against.
Undeterred by the setback, the Parliamentarian used the moment to issue a powerful public statement, demanding immediate government intervention. He highlighted the profound injustice faced by his constituents, who reside in mineral-rich chiefdoms that generate substantial revenue for the nation yet remains crippled by a lack of basic infrastructure.
“It is unacceptable that the communities who contribute so significantly to our nation’s income are effectively cut off from development,” lamented Hon. Sesay.
The state of this road is not just an inconvenience; it is a barrier to economic growth, access to healthcare, education, and a dignified life for the people of Bumbuna and Bendugu.
Hon. Sesay directly called upon His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio and the Chief Minister to prioritize the immediate construction and tarring of the Magburaka/ Sambaia Bendugu road. He pointed to the significant operations of mining companies within the Sambaia area and the three sister chiefdoms, arguing that both the government and these corporations have a moral and economic obligation to reinvest in the communities from which their wealth is derived.
The people of the Bumbuna and Sambaia have grown increasingly dissatisfied, feeling that the vast revenues generated from their land have not been reciprocated with tangible development. Hon. Sesay echoed their sentiments, stating that the community’s patience has been exhausted.
In his conclusion, Hon. Sesay was unequivocal: “The government must act fast. The people of Sambaia Bendugu and the three sister chiefdoms deserve more. They deserve their fair share, a share that begins with a modern, reliable road that connects them to the opportunities and services they have rightfully earned.
