Serious confusion has erupted in Biriwa Chiefdom, Bombali district over the sacking of the Section Chief of Kagbankuna Section.
His name is Chief Michael Conteh.
And the confusion if not handle quickly, it might lead up to another social upheaval in the Chiefdom in Kono.
Reports monitored from the Chiefdom have said Chief Conteh was sacked by the Paramount Chief Salifu Manah Kalawa lll of Biriwa Chiefdom of Bombali District.
The sacked chief was deposed for commending the late President Ahmed Tejan Kabbah to be the man that ushered all the developmental projects in that section.
According to our sources, the Sub-Chief, in a meeting held in Kagbakuna town in a couple of weeks ago, lavished praises on late President Tejan Kabbah SLPP, thanking his regime for all the developmental strides “my section enjoying today.”
In the meeting, Chief Conteh told the gathering that all the school, clinic, community center, market building, etc, built in his section were all the good work of the former SLPP regime.
He appealed to the incumbent government for similar assistance to be given them so as to be able to improve the socio-economic development of their section. He said Kagbankuna and Biriwa chiefdom as a whole still needed more assistance from the SLPP government.
He said it is the only government that had been assisting them on developments.
“If someone does good to your community what will you do for him?” Chief Conteh asked his people.
Further reports say when Paramount Chief, Salifu Kalawa was informed about the statements made the Section chief he hadn’t given a thought on the matter to immediately sack the Chief.
The PC replaced him with his former Chiefdom Speaker whom he had also allegedly sacked two years ago, giving flimsy reasons for his kicking out.
This latest action by the PC has caused serious confusion in Kagbankuna area as the youth continue to create spontaneous show of commotion whenever authorities of PC Kalama make any attempts to visit the section. There have been reports of road blocks and other violence actions as the youth express disenchantments over the sacking of their Chief.
This deteriorating security situation has resulted to many court cases on those fiercely involved in the matter to cause mayhem.
Courts cases are being taken to NA courts and Magistrate courts in Makeni City.
When contacted via his phone for his response on the matter and allegations, PC Salifu Kalawa declined to comment on our journalist request.
“I’ve nothing to say… they should not stop here. Let them take me to State House,” he was quoted as saying as an off-the record comment.
