One of the militant groups for the democratization of the All People’s Congress (APC) party, the National Reformation Movement (NRM), has again resurrected.
The NRM took the party to court sometime in 2020 on the basis of reforming the party through a means of constitutionality and to ensuring that the then selection clause be expunged from the party law book.
The NRM is also well-known for being a defiant group within the APC party.
Just last week, the movement again re-grouped itself and elected new executive members.
The reasons for the resurgence of the NRM is still doubtful on the lips of many Sierra Leoneans and many have murmured that there will be a likelihood for another string of “court actions” in the coming months.
Some say the current APC executive tenure has elapsed and so many have demanded for their resignation.
Meanwhile, Abdul Karim Kafoir Esq, has been elected as the Chairman of the NRM.
In his appreciation statement, Abdul Karim Kafoir, said it was with great honour and humility that he accepted the esteemed position of Chairman of their revered Reformers’ spirit within the APC.
“I extend my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you who participated in the elections and have bestowed your trust in me to lead our Movement forward,” he said.
He said he was acutely aware of the weight of responsibility that would accompany this role, and so he wanted to assure everyone that he is dedicated to championing the issues and interests of their institution — going forward.
Kafoir Esq said he is committed to working diligently to ensure the sustainable growth and advancement of the National Reformation Movement, while striving to achieve their mission of creating a level playing field.
Together, he pointed out, “let us uphold the values and principles that define our organization, and let us endeavour to forge a brighter future for all our members.”
“Your unwavering support and confidence in my leadership are deeply appreciated, and I pledge to serve you and the Movement to the best of my abilities.”
Kafoir said he was immensely grateful for the extraordinary opportunity given to him.
“Let us embark on this collective journey and elevate our Movement to new heights with impact and strengths,” he noted.
He said with him and his team at the helm, the aspirations of true Reformers in establishing a level playing field and advocating for the marginalized would be realized.
“Together, we will raise the bar!”he disclosed.
