Criminals are on a rampage disguising as passengers to snatch people’s phones and other valuables at Jui.

They are posing as passengers at vehicles’ talking points.

Since Jui junction has become a transit and diversion point linking Freetown and Western Area Rural District, there are lots of criminal activities going on there.  Criminals converge on a daily basis to carry out their diabolical criminal activities against perssengers plying  from Freetown to Waterloo and Jui to Lumley.

Many  perssengers have had their mobile phones and other valuables snatched away by these criminals who come on board transport on the pretext that they are perssengers.

Others have now resulted to physically attacking people at late hours of the night.

Talking to a fuel attendant who spoke on condition of annonimity for fear of attack, he said the issue of Jui needs to be addressed with all seriousness it deserves.

“We now find it difficult to go home after work for fear of being attacked on our way home.”

“These criminals don’t only converge on poda podas’ parking centers but have now been divided themselves into groups.”

He added at night they are stationed at teh Freetown Polytechnic gate area which is back  of the Chinese government hospital’s fence and back of Jui bridge.

The fuel seller had appealed for more police presence at the Jui axis, adding that police operation team should not be only seen during the day but at all time – night hours too.

He said that is why these criminals had been stealing people’s belongings.

He added that most commercial motor bike riders are in the habit of conniving with these criminals night to steal at night.
