Usually reliable sources has intimated this medium that a staunch supporter of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party one Ekachi Thomas and also a close confidante of popular APC blogger Hassan S. Dumbuya aka Evangelist Samson is wanted by the State of Sierra Leone for his alleged involvement in the August 10, 2022 protest that was intended to topple the incumbent regime of President Julius Maada Bio.
According to credible report filtering into this medium, Ekachi Thomas is accused as one of the master planners of the August 10, 2022 protest; as youth despite not having any legitimate clearance to stage a protest on that fateful day march on the streets of the capital, Freetown and other places in the northern region of Sierra Leone chanting “Maada Bio Must Go”.
The youth on that fateful day were visibly seen in an open confrontation with security apparatus, the incident left six police officers dead, as one among the officers was set ablaze by marauding youth. Several government properties were severely vandalized including the setting ablaze of a police station in Kamakwie in the northern axis of Sierra Leone.
According to sources, the youth were desperately chanting ‘Maada Bio must go’ as according to them is due to the economic hardship that the regime of President Bio has inflicted on them. They claimed that the government of President Bio who made a promise of ameliorating the plight of the youth has rendered them useless with no job creation, high cost of living and other vices in society that has culminated into them becoming drug addicts.
The protesters were accused as coupist, as their main intention was to topple the government. Their crime was deemed as a treasonable offence. Majority of the protesters based on verified reports were apprehended, sources added that some were never seen since their arrest.
Information available at our news desk disclosed that those who were fortunate to have escaped have been declared wanted by the State of Sierra Leone for committing treasonable offence. These escapees now fear for their safety if captured.
