President Julius Maada Bio’s face will not be on the ballot box in the next general elections, says Hon Bashiru Silikie.
He is the Deputy Leader of Government Business in Parliament.
He made the submissions on Tuesday 23rd July 2024 in the Well of Parliament during the approval of the presidential nominees.
He said the Presidential appointees should work for the success of the government and pave the way for the re-election in the upcoming elections when President Julius Maada Bio will have retired.
He spoke on a separate issue such as the habit of not picking up phone calls by State House employees.
“We are here as MPs for the next five years and if you [appointees] don’t perform you will be sacked. Please go and,” he said.
He admonished the appointees to lure investment opportunities for the country for employment and economic boom.
In his statement, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon Ibrahim Tawa Conteh also re-echoed his view.
“We are not beggars. Pick our calls and respond to our messages, he re-echoed.
Mr. Salam Koroma, who was appointed as Ambassador to Iran for his good work over the years, was highly praised.
