In light of the recent contestation by Sierra Leone U-17 regarding their MRI results in Senegal which nullified their players for supposedly giving wrong ages, EcoMed Medical Diagnostic Center, says it is pleased to announce that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has revised their earlier assessment on the MRI scans leading to the reinstatement of the Under-17 football team for the WAFU tournament.
“This testifies to our position that the Senegal scans may have been inaccurate,” says an official.
“At EcoMed, we leverage advanced MRI imaging technology to assess the skeletal age of candidates. The scans we generate are interpreted by a team of international radiologists, and we stand firmly by the integrity of our results, which were issued for over 40 candidates, with a clear pass/fail outcome.”
Furthermore, EcoMed said it conducted MRI tests on over 50 candidates from the Liberian U-17 team, of which the full participating team passed the CAF’s scrutiny.
In the interest of transparency, it said it is inviting the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLAFA) to share the scans conducted in Senegal. “We are prepared to submit both their scans and ours to an independent panel of international radiologists to resolve any perceived concerns.”
