Junior Nabieu, a complainant, was remanded for 24 hours at the Pademba Road Male Correctional facility for delaying the time of the court.
The complainant was in court to testify against Obai Sesay who should have appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown for wounding with intent contrary to section 18 of the Offense against the Persons Act 1861.
According to the particulars of offense, the accused on Wednesday 18th June 2025, at Ports Authority’s office off Wallace Johnson Street, Freetown, wounded Junior Nabieu with intent to do him grievous bodily harm.
In a bid to make progress with the prosecution, Assistance Superintendent of Police, Ibrahim Mansaray, led in prosecuting witness, Junior Nabieu to testify in court.
He told the bench that he was no longer interested in having case against the accused the complainant told the bench that he wished to withdraw the matter from court.
After hearing the submission of the complainant, the Principal Magistrate, ordered 24 hours remand for the complainant for wasting the time of the court.
The Magistrate held the view that the complainant must have made it known to his attention before mentioning the said matter. In his words, If he had wished to settle the matter outside the court, he must have told the bench before mentioning the matter.”
