Those who know Bra Parrot well can attest to the fact that he is always interested in the activities of political parties in the country not necessarily to know everything about their internal affairs, but because he always wants them to do the right things at all times.
According to report reaching the wise bird, the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has announced the suspension of two of its members, Mr. Prince Kallon and Mr. Caulker for their decision to take legal action against Mr. Ahmed Tejan-Sie Chairman of the SLPP UK and Ireland, Alhaji M. Jalloh, Financial Secretary UK/Ireland, Yvonne King, Chairperson of the Council of Elders UK/Ireland.
According to the report, Mr. Kallon and Mr. Caulker allegedly violated Article 2(d),(i)(g) of the SLPP’s August 2020 Constitution.
As a result, the party has invoked Article 2 (D1), 2E (485) of its Constitution to suspend the two men.
Not only that, they have also been referred to the party’s disciplinary committee for further action against them.
Constitutional fight in political parties has become a commonplace in Sierra Leone as often those at the helm change certain provisions in their constitutions when they want get rid or sideline certain members for obvious reasons.
The Parrot has gathered that All People’s Congress (APC) party certain clauses in its constitution indicating who is qualified to contest for the flag-bearer position. Those who have been affected have already frowned at it.
Sometimes the bird is very much confused why senior party members always use the parties Constitution to victimize others.
Against this backdrop, the bird went out to sound the views of people who are more knowledgeable about political parties’ activities and their Constitutions.
Most of those he met said Constitutions are always used against those the parties do not want to take part in certain political activities.
However, the bird stands to be corrected but wants to believe that Mr. Kallon and Mr. Caulker are not in the good books of some senior members of the party.
The same thing goes to the APC may be all those they considered not qualified might not in the good books of some members of the party.
This is more the reason the bird is so much loved by the people because he called things by their correct and proper names.
The most respected animal always wants a level playing field.
