President Julius Maada Bio has appointed Doctor Willette Princess Ransolina Oluwakemi James as Chairperson of Board of Trustees of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC).
The appointment is a significant move in the Sierra Leone media landscape.
Many have said the President did not make any mistake by appointing Dr James in that position.
They say she is the right person especially with her academic qualifications and being a lecturer and gender advocate in the media cycle.
Williette has practiced as a journalist for twenty years. She got part of her training in journalism at the Sky High Magazine based in London.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts with Honours, First Class in Mass Communication; a Master of Arts in Gender Studies; a master of Philosophy in Mass Communication and a Ph.D. in Communication and Media Studies, including serving as an Assistant Dean of Faculty of Communication Media and Information Studies at Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone and she has achieved huge successes in the media landscape.
She is currently the Communication Manager at National Petroleum.
With all these expert qualifications and experience, most Sierra Leoneans say she, is indeed, the right individual for the position and she can use her wealth of experience to transform the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation in to a communication hub.
Her appearance before parliament for interview and endorsement will no doubt be a story already told as she is expected to sail through with flying colors, according to media and social analysts.
