A lot has been said about the coming of ECOWAS to Sierra Leone, in order to restore Democracy and Constitutional order.
Sierra Leoneans from all walks of life were expecting the “contingents to be here, long before this time.
The latest information the bird has got is that, the United States government has officially handed-over the ECOWAS Logistics Training Depot to the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF).
The information went further that, since its establishment in 2002, the Depot has played a crucial role in ensuring trainings of well-equipped 1,652 soldiers from 15 African Nations.
As part of the handing-over ceremony, the US has provided RSLAF with vital equipment, including 194 vehicles and 29,000 communication gears meant to enhance the country’s security and peacekeeping, strengthening capabilities.
The information the bird got went on that, over 200 RSLAF personnel trained in logistics and operational management, is meant to this transition to ensure the Depot continues to serve as a cornerstone of national and regional stability.
The handing-over comes as Sierra Leone prepares to host a 1,200 strong peacekeeping force authorized by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
According to the information, this force is part of the ECOWAS Counter-Terrorism Force (CTF) with the aim to stabilize the country and prevent unconstitutional regimes from recurring.
The bird as usual went out to sound the views of people in respect of the arrival of ECOWAS, as alleged, almost all those the bird contacted said the coming of ECOWAS is no longer news” to them.
Their coming is long overdue; adding, they are yet to see the reality on such talks.
The question some of the people were asking were that, what exactly are the soldiers coming to do?
The bird cannot give an answer to the people because the coming of ECOWAS’ troop has not been better explained to the bird and by extension the people of Sierra Leone.
The situation is just as the Tripartite Committee was whose merits were never properly explained to the people– which led to a big problem in the country.
