After spending time with John Keister as deputy national coach of Leone Stars, Amidu Karim has been appointed by the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) as provisional head coach of the team to replace his former boss.
Under the former coach whose contract was not extended by the country’s football governing body after expiration, oversaw 27 games losing 12, won 5 and drew 9. Amidu Karim is to remain as caretaker head coach of the team ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifications.
Meanwhile, football pundits across the country have expressed dismay over the non-procedure offer made by SLFA appointment committee.
Speaking to some fans on the issue, they expressed disappointment over the performance of the Coach Amidu Karim and his backroom staff in the ongoing FIFA international friendlies.
Judging from the last friendly, they said the system of the team on the pitch was highly appalling as majority of the players lacked fitness.
However, the 50 year-old, Amidu Karim led Leone Stars for the first time in a FIFA international friendlies between Benin and Sierra Leone which ended in a narrow one all draw on Saturday 14-10-2023.
Inside sources, have revealed to A24 sports that the call up of players for national duty over the years were not by merit as government, SLFA and technical staff used to have their own choice especially players plying their trade overseas.
