Journalist Joseph Mendel Lamin, alias “Manager Dust,” along with Morlia Kamara, a bike rider, and Umaru Timbo, a driver, on Tuesday 3rd June, 2025 made another appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No.1 and are presently awaiting their committal at the high Court for further trial.
They are before the court on two count charges of conspiracy to murder and murder, under the Offences Against the Persons Act 1861, as amended by the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act of 2021.
The prosecution alleges that Lamin and co., on January 15th, 2025, at the Voice of Peace and Development (VOPAD) Radio Station in Kissi Town, Waterloo, conspired together to murder journalist Samuel Brima Mattia.
Shortly after the matter was mentioned, the prosecutor ASP Ibrahim Mansaray said that the matter falls under the preliminary investigation category and he has successfully led three witnesses in court.
Prosecutor Mansaray further informed the court that he wished the matter be committed to the High Court for further trial and the exhibits which he wished to tender at the Magistrate court are now tendered at the High Court.
Defense Counsel Abdulai Barateh said he will address the court in written form on the evidence led so far by the Prosecution.
Magistrate Jah said he will adjourn the matter for forty-eight (48) hours as it is a murder matter.

Barateh pleaded for a week adjournment for him to be able to put his submission together.
The matter was adjourned to 10th June 2025 for defense to be submitted in written document before the court on behalf of his clients.
