Tensions are rising within the All People’s Congress (APC) as a group of supporters from Sierra Leone’s south-east accused the party of tribalism and regional bias against former Vice President Samuel Sam Sumana.
In a strongly worded statement, the group alleged that despite contributing over one billion Leones to the party during the 2023 registration process, their leader and his supporters have since faced “systematic exclusion and hostility.”
“After our registration, they waged war against the Former VP Samuel Samsumana and his supporters,” the group said. “We had wanted to react and demand our monies back, but our leader advised us to keep the peace.”
The disgruntled supporters further claimed that APC officials are maneuvering to prevent Samsumana from contesting in the upcoming 2028 elections.
“APC doesn’t want our leader to participate in the coming elections,” they alleged.
“We demand all registration fees deposited into the accounts of these organized criminals returned to us.”
Warning of consequences if their demands are not addressed, the group declared that no APC political activity would be tolerated in the south-east without a “fair playing field” for Samsumana.
“If justice isn’t established in APC, definitely no APC activity would be allowed in the south-east,” the statement concluded. “We are ready enough of the nonsense.”
