The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFAIC) has urgently requested an increase in staff to enhance its operational capacity and to effectively support Sierra Leone’s foreign policy objectives.

This request was made during the Manpower Planning and Budget session at the Civil Service Training College, organized by the Human Resources Management Office (HRMO).

Director General and Ambassador-at-Large Dr Victoria M. Sulimani highlighted the ministry’s growing demands, noting that with 26 missions under its supervision, more diplomatic staff are needed to meet MFAIC’s expanding diplomatic responsibilities. U

The increase of personnel aims to strengthen foreign engagements effectively, thus contributing significantly to Sierra Leone’s global influence.

Dr. Sulimani also highlighted the ongoing issue of Sierra Leonean migrants stranded abroad, noting that 421 citizens in Niger require verification and assistance. The MFAIC  will collaborate with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to facilitate their safe return.

The ministry requests its commitment to addressing foreign policy challenges and supporting the government’s vision for government relations.
