The mysterious circumstances surrounding the disappearance of identical twins, Alhasan and Alusine Karlokoh, aged 22 and from Makalie Village- Masiaka in the Port Loko District in the Northern Province of Sierra Leone, have left tongues wagging. Some say their disappearance could not be unconnected with the tragic death of their younger brother, Ibrahim Kalokoh, who was reported to have lost his life in the wake of the November 26, 2023 attempted coup prison break of the Pademba Road Correctional Center in Freetown.
A source in Freetown articulated that the late Ibrahim was seen outside the prison environs after the prison break with some coup plotters, a reason he lost his life.
A source from the village also said that fear gripped the two brothers as their late brother was killed because he supported the coup plotters who freed him from detention, a reason the twins abandon their village and disappeared for fear of being targeted by the security forces.
Another source stated that the fear of finger pointing of those suspected of taking part in the failed coup prompted the twins to go underground, the source recalling the decade-long war in Sierra Leone when some people lost their lives as they were accused of being rebel collaborators merely because a family member was a rebel.
“The disappearance of the two brothers can also be linked to avoid their forceful initiation into the feared Poro secret society, an initiation rite they refused to undergo when they were just 15 years old,’’ the source added.
Up to press time the whereabouts of the two brothers is still unknown.
